On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Caribbean island nation of Haiti, killing an estimated 230,000 people, rendering more than 1.5 million homeless, and demolishing buildings into over 50 million tons of rubble.

Recently the Gilbert Soccer Club was contacted by Chris Compansino who is heading an effort to collect goods for those people of Haiti still devastated by the earthquake. Chris lives here locally and has a player in our Academy Program. He is also part of a group trying to bring the MLS to Arizona. He has negotiated a shipping contract with Fedex that will allow him to send all of the goods we donate for free to Haiti over the holidays.

If you have any toys, soccer equipment, clothes (new or used) toiletries or anything that would benefit those people please bring it to one of following practice fields by Thursday December 16th.

If your team trains on Wednesday December 15th 6:00pm - 7:30pm please look for:

  • Gloria Roberts at Highland High School
  • Barb Barmettler at South Valley Junior High School

If your team trains on Thursday December 16th 6:00pm - 7:30pm please look for:

  • Tim Barmettler  at the Highland High School Field (look for the Toyota 4 Runner on the Southernmost Filed)
  • Barb Barmettler will be at Chandler Gilbert Community College (look for the Tahoe at the College Entrance)
  • Gene Warne will have his Truck parked at South Valley Junior High

Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
